Beer is the reason: they must've thought these videos over a beer. I would've.
Also OK GO! Has left EMI because EMI wouldn't let fans embed OK GO! videos on personal blogs. Dumb especially since the viral videos have helped sell the bands songs.

Saturday Night Live is also notorious for ripping down videos posted by fans - people who are not benefiting financially off of these videos. Even if they are making Google ad revenue, how much could that possibly come to?
It's like SNL doesn't want any buzz about their show. Or any fans.
Devils Advocate: SNL are probably using IP protection as their reason. Even if it's just snippets SNL is just a series of short skits put together and having a skit posted up without permission could be seen as SNL not protecting their IP. If they didn't we wouldn't have stuff like Night at the Roxybury or Wayne's World. Since SNL is mainly visual entertainment having parts of the show circulate for free online devalues it.
That said these viral videos benefit the indie groups alot as shown by how many more CD's OK Go! sold because of Youtube.
